Johan: Since, so, 6 months, let’s say, and who contributes to the Authentic French Academy as a tutor A natural conversation in French . So, she is an experienced tutor who has given more than 1,200 lessons for us, so, more than 1,200 hours of lessons. You know our members well.
Gwendoline: Yes, of course.
Johan: You have a good experience. Gwendoline has been part of the Français Authentique team for 3 years. And today, I would like her to share her experience with us and give us her best tips. Are you ready?
Gwendoline: I’m ready.
Johan: Great. Before we move on to the content, I invite you to take a look, to look at the first link in the description. You will discover the Authentic French Academy . There are some dialogue modules with Gwendoline
Gwendoline, can you briefly introduce yourself for those who don’t know you?
Gwendoline: Yeah. So, I’m originally from the South-West of France. So, as you said, I’ve been a tutor at the Authentic French Academy for 3 years. And I really enjoy being able to do different tasks for Authentic French.
Johan: And in particular, hosting Zoom meetings with our audience finally.
Gwendoline: Exactly.
Johan: Over the past 3 years, you have seen a lot of members of the academy. We have talked about 1,200 lessons. So you have seen people who manage to move from the state of understanding to the state of expression and others who end up giving up. What do you think makes the difference between the two? Who succeeds? Who gives up?
Gwendoline: I think there are two factors. The hong kong whatsapp number data first is that sometimes some members set their goals too high and, so, in fact, at the beginning, everything is beautiful, everything is rosy, and they are very invested in the academy, but then, inevitably, it falls back and they give up.
Another thing too is that… in the same style, eh… when they arrive in Authentic French, there are a lot of resources and, therefore, they want to do everything. And therefore, they give their all in all the resources and, therefore, they exhaust themselves.
The second factor, I think, is the community. So, of course, you can learn a foreign language alone, but I think that the community helps. So, those who manage to integrate easily into the tracy petersen senior director of human resources community tend to persevere. Because in fact, when they are going to have a moment of discouragement, well there is maybe someone on the Telegram or Facebook group who will tell them: “Well, it’s been a long time since we saw you. Where are you? What are you doing?” And, so, inevitably, that will help them to persevere.
Johan: Okay. Yes, very interesting. So, on the one hand, don’t set goals that are too high, take your time. We often talk about the kaizen spirit on this channel, but look for small regular goals rather than very rare big goals or small regular progress rather than very rare big progress. So, that’s the first point. Don’t try to do everything.
I would add, beyond quantity focus on things that interest us
Gwendoline: Of course.
Johan: Because some people tend to say to themselves: “Since it’s on the platform, I have to follow it”. In fact, no. Each content is designed for a type of need and there’s no problem in not doing everything. And of course, the community aspect is very important to be encouraged and to not give up.
Most people who are part of the academy want to a complete list of unit phone numbers express themselves better orally. What would you recommend to someone who wants to have more ease and speak French without blocking?
So, it’s true that sometimes it’s not easy because we don’t live in a country where French is spoken, it’s difficult to find people who speak French, but within the academy, we have a lot of resources to be able to practice speaking, meetings with tutors, the Zoom room 24 hours a day, the fact of being able to organize your own meetings. And one thing I also did during the lockdown, when I learned Turkish, I couldn’t practice with others, so I found language partners.
